Any color photo in our archive can be converted to black and white for reproduction as a black and white fine art print or high-resolution stock photo. The examples below illustrate how the richness and tonality of the photo can be maintained with proper conversion techniques. In general the most successful conversions involve photos with graphic subject matter, texture, and dimensionality. For example, architectural photographs and cityscapes convert well to black and white due to their graphic subject matter. Photos which are composed primarily of flat patches of vivid color, such as abstract photos, generally do not translate as well into black and white.
