Sylvan Landscapes is an ongoing series of abstracted landscapes of trees and woodland environments which Andrew first began in 2020. The series explores the hidden geometry of nature by transforming familiar forest scenes into mirrored compositions that reveal the underlying order in natural forms. Though thoroughly contemporary in execution, the series is rooted in the long tradition of landscape photography.
Andrew pre-visualizes each work, scouting locations for specific canopy shapes and lighting. He captures multiple high-resolution images of each scene, merges them into a single ultra-detailed image, and then reflects or reconfigures the image to uncover new visual patterns. This process allows him to produce large-scale, finely detailed photographs that become a meditation on transformation, structure, and the enduring beauty of the forest. Limited-edition fine art prints of these photos are available in various sizes, please inquire.
