Multiplicity

About This Project

Multiplicity is Andrew’s latest series, conceived and executed in late 2022. The series portrays London’s iconic landmarks and locations through the medium of multiple-exposure photography. Multiplicity is at heart an attempt to capture the dynamism of the subject in a still photograph. The series was inspired by the work of the Italian Futurists, and in particular the paintings of Umberto Boccioni.

In Multiplicity, the composition is created by capturing numerous images of the subject, each taken from a slightly different perspective. The multitude of images are layered one atop the next to form an abstracted view of the subject. Whereas Andrew’s other recent series from London, Flux, focuses on the temporal aspect of the scene through the use of long exposure times, Multiplicity engages the viewer by presenting an alternate spatial perspective of the subject…or rather multiple and simultaneous perspectives of the subject. Andrew’s photographs from Multiplicity are available as limited-edition fine art prints up to 120 inches in size.
